The Centenary Suburbs Historical Society Inc. was formed in 1996. The Society focuses on nine
south-western suburbs of Brisbane between Fort Road (or the western boundary of Oxley) and
Wolston Creek – Seventeen Mile Rocks, Sinnamon Park, Jindalee, Mount Ommaney, Middle Park,
Jamboree Heights, Sumner, Riverhills and Westlake. As a very expansive set of the outer south-west
suburbs developed from the 1959 Queensland centenary vision and launch of the modern city, the
Centenary Suburbs Historical Society Inc. has a prime role in urban studies. The Society has
annotated timelines, a list of natural and urban archaeological locations, and oral histories of
pioneer families and early residents’ pre and post-1959 urban development. The Society also has
extensive information on the Sinnamon Farm Heritage Precinct as well as comprehensive research of
the whole district. The Society’s publications focus on pioneering era pre 1900.
