Dear Mr. McCartney, — Please accept my sympathy in the loss of your son, who was under my command in Malaya after he arrived at Johore in October, 1941.

There was only one signaller who was at Kuala Lumpur with your son. He is R. Pickering, of Beeligh, [sic] Coopers Plains, Brisbane, who got home safely in October last. If you want further details of Ron, I am Pickering could supply them.
